ABOUT OUR CLASSES

The YOGA classes taught by Carol Bender (RYT 200) are a hybrid of vinyasa flow yoga and mindful hatha yoga. Vinyasa flow is an athletic form of yoga where one pose flows into the next, like a moving meditation. The postures are connected through the breath for a transformative and balancing effect. In mindful hatha yoga, we focus on holding poses and tuning into our breath (pranayama). Many of the physiological and psychological benefits of yoga come from holding poses (asanas). Poses can be modified for individual flexibility and strength.

Waleah Norton (RYT 200) teaches Native Yoga (a blend of Bikram and Ashtanga yoga) and the primary series of Ashtanga Yoga.  Waleah gives cues for all levels of practice; she is highly skilled with physical adjustments, and encourages students to modify when appropriate. In her classes you will learn how to move deeper into a pose and to listen to your body during practice.
